Nutanix Objects is S3 compatible, which means all the supported API will behave identical to  Amazon S3 APIs. If your application supports Amazon aws S3 and if API’s being used by your application are supported by Nutanix Objects, then you can migrate your application to your Nutanix Objects with minimal efforts and configuration changes.

Backup is one of the primary use case of Nutanix Objects. Most of the top backup software supports backing/tiering data to S3 storage. In this series we will go through the needed steps for configuring your backup application with Nutanix Objects. This will also help you in migrating your Backup workload from other S3 solutions to Nutanix Objects with just a few clicks.

  • Veeam backup Tiering to Nutanix Objects
  • Hycu backup to Nutanix Objects.
  • Commvault Backup to Nutanix Objects.

Pre-requisites before you proceed:

Knowing your Nutanix Objects S3 endpoint:

Post cluster deployment, you will see some high level info in Objects landing page.

Here you can see I have 4 Nutanix Objects instances running on the PC. IP/'s listed under Client Used IPs is your Nutanix Objects S3 endpoint IP. You may have 1-4 IPs listed here based on your deployment size. You can use any of the IP or if you have configured DNS round robin, then just use DNS name. Access FQDN/IP on port 80/443 for http/https respectively.

We will be using last Nutanix Objects instance (IrishCoffee) for all our experiments.
